Limnanthes
alba
is a genus of annual herbaceous plants commonly known as
the meadowfoams. The plant (Limnanthes
alba) is a low growing herbaceous winter annual that is
adapted to poorly drained soils. It is the source of meadowfoam
seed oil that is very similar to whale oil, derived from
sperm whales. The plant is short, 20-30 cm. Leaves are pinnately
dissected with entire incisely toothed, lobed, or parted
stems. The oil is known to have as high concentration (>90%)
of total fatty acids of chain length greater than C18[269].
This fatty acid has physical and chemical properties that
make the seed oil of these plants useful for a number of
industrial applications.
Property:
The oil is has excellent revitalizing and recovering properties.
Highly stable, it guarantees performance of absolute value
in repairing from within the structural cuticle of hairs.
Working in conjunction with a molecule of silicone, the
product renders hair luminous. Flexible and reconstructed
from within. Best results are obtained on dyed hair.
